Testimonial

"We have always been interested in the Solar PV especially, and were keen to try and do something proactive for the environmental gain, in terms of the diminishing resource of fossil-fuels. Hence we were delighted to find a cash-back scheme that enabled householders to be able to participate in doing their bit. We were very pleased with the whole installation of Solar PV, Thermal and a new Boiler and the Rockwarm team did an excellent job of efficiently managing the work on site."

"Feed in Tariff" explained

An example quotation and savings for Photovoltaic (PV)

We have used the following calculations for this proposal:

Each 1kW PV system generates 850 kWh p.a.(on average in South of England). This will displace (850 × 0.568 (displacement CO2 content of electricity) = 482.8kg CO2 p.a.

10 panel installation

Supply and install grid connected 1.85kWp PV system: (1.85 × 850 = 1572.5 kWh p.a. is the estimated energy generated per year)

Feed in Tariff (FIT)

The government Feed-in Tariff (FIT) proposed for this size of system is £0.433p per kWh, so 1572.5 kWhpa would be worth up to £680.89 per annum (1572.5 × 43.3p). We would expect a small amount of the energy generated to be exported back to the grid. As an example if, 10% of this output were exported because it is surplus to your immediate requirements, it would earn an additional £0.03per kWh.

Therefore 1572.5 × 10% = 157.25 kWh at £0.03 sold to the grid, an additional annual income of £4.72.

With the remaining 90% used in the property and reducing the requirement for imported electricity at £0.15 per kWh, this would be equivalent to an additional income of 1572.5 × 90% = 1415.25 kWh pa at £0.15 giving a further saving of £212.29on buying grid electricity.

The total estimated value of the income from the generation of electricity from the proposed system would be:

FIT £680.89
Exported electricity £4.72
Savings on purchased electricity £212.29
Total estimated income from system £897.90

This would be equivalent to an annual ROI of 9.4%.
